 Dual-Cure In the case of monomers polymerised by different mechanisms, for example by the radicals to acrylate and inland to the cationic epoxy, the result after irradiation, two interpenetrated polymer networks (IPN) with very different properties. The kinetic studies showed that both polymerization processes are developing simultaneously but independently of each other in a time scale less than the second.

Polymer materials with well-defined characteristics can be rapidly synthesized by photopolymerization of a mixture of multifunctional monomers. In the case of monomers polymerised by different mechanisms, for example by the radicals to acrylate and inland to the cationic epoxy, the result after irradiation, two interpenetrated polymer networks (IPN) with properties very different. The kinetic studies carried out by Prof. C. DECKER showed that the two polymerization processes are developing simultaneously but independently of each other in a time scale less than the second.

Different types of hybrid systems photopolymerizable have been developed to improve the performance of cross-linked materials, including couples vinylether / acrylate, epoxy / acrylate and epoxy / vinyl ether.

The main advantage of hybrid systems is the possibility to combine in one material the main features of the two systems, involving, for example, the elastomer poly (vinyl ether) and the rigidity of polyacrylate or polyepoxy. This produces a hard and flexible material at the same time, which has good resistance to impact and scratch. We were able to mount, by acting on the relative proportions of the two monomers, one can vary the physicochemical properties of the IPN in a wide area and produce organic material having the characteristics desired by our customers.
